A stretch of river V: Clarity

As I was walking Scruffy this morning at 6:20, with the downtown buildings silhouetted in the east against a lightening sky but otherwise still quite dark, I was struck by how absolutely clear the air was, how present that made appear not just the streetlights but even the buildings that still lay in shadow. There are times at night here when the air is so clear that the light from the stars seems to crackle, and this morning was like that as well.

My little corner of the world this morning seems immediate and clearer to see, if not clearly revealed: a sense I've not had in a few weeks now. The chill and clarity of the air nudged me in the direction of seeing What Matters: God, love, my children, work.

I know it's only the first week of Advent, but sometimes Epiphany comes early.

More in a few days.

That's a sensation I treasure, and though it's elusive, Advent does seem to bring it on. Well said.
