On predestination and free will
Those interested in this subject, guaranteed to ensure that philosophers and theologians will always have work, should have a look at this little but thought-provoking post by Overlyconscious.
I believe that God does not intervene in human affairs, unless you're speaking of his people being there for love and support after the fact. Minimum intervention, maximum support.
Hey OC, heh...sorry about the crazy debate on your blog. Didn't mean to hijack the "thought provocation". I thought your post was excellent, and yes, very thought-provoking. I promise I thought some about free will (not just about extra ecclesium. Sigh.)
I like your blog, though, and I'm really not as bitchy as I sound on the internet. :)
You needn't worry. Beitiathustra tends to bring that sort of thing out in people. He is, believe or not, obscenely brilliant but it gets to his head sometimes.
Besides, I am all about conversation on my blog. I am less concerned with conclusions and more concerned with getting people (and myself) to think. You seem to have done that...and if I facilated I consider the post a success.
Thanks for the plug.
ReplyDeleteThat link and thread get VERY deep in a hurry. I've got a headache now...
ReplyDelete“There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God: “Thy will be done;” and those to whom God says, in the end, “Thy will be done.’”

Looks like my thought provocation worked...although not in the direction I thought it would.
