Thanksgiving post

What am I thankful for? It is a good question for me to think on today, seeing as I'm spending the day alone: something about the absence of a food-laden table distills thought, leading me, I would hope, to see what matters and what doesn't.

In no particular order . . .

My health. My job, which satisfies me more than it does my creditors, but, you know, tough. My children. The changing seasons. Music, art, books, all those imaginative attempts to make sense of the world and/or offer up resistance to it. Love, however and whenever it manifests itself. Faith and hope. Friendship, virtual and actual. Scruffy. This marvelous, gifted mystery called Life.

Happiest Thanksgiving wishes to each and all.

The best to you, my friend. And here's hoping for another trip out west through Wichita.

Cheers.

Thank you for posting this, John. (From a grateful soul who is also spending the day solo.)

I thought about you earlier today and wished you lived close by so we could invite you over to help us eat a dead bird that was far to big for the crew we had. I hope you found peace and comfort today, my friend...

Thanks to all of you for your kind wishes. It was, on the whole, a good day; Scruffy, perhaps sensing my mood, was a bit clingy today.

Here's hoping your respective days were enjoyable ones.

John, Happy Thanksgiving - I think, when life is challenging, it is often the best time to think about what we're grateful for - gratitude is oddly contagious I think. I'm glad that Scruffy was on the list - oh, and do go see Hopper. I think that road trip sounds like a really good idea.
