50,000

Just after 1:00 this morning, someone near Walton, New York (a town about 25-30 miles east of Binghamton), found his way here via a Google search of Faulkner's famous quote, "The past is never dead. It is not even past." S/he was visitor 50,000 to this site. According to Sitemeter, you weren't here very long, but I hope you felt welcome.

It was only this past February that the 40,000th visitor passed this way, and here we are in May, not quite three months later, noting #50,000. Most find their way here via image searches; some, though, stick around and read for a while. This steady uptick in traffic is still a bit bewildering to me, but there it is. I don't claim to have done anything special here, but I wouldn't have a blog if I didn't hope people visited and liked what they found; so, while I don't claim to deserve their visits, I am grateful for them.

Okay--back to grading.

Congrats to you!

Inertia is a marvelous thing: once we readers get moving, we can't help ourselves. We keep coming back.

Cheers.

swarm behavior; i see it over at WNBTv every so often.

interestingly, they all seem to head off to the same place after.

then they disappear for a while.

the next swarm is usually from a different locus, not to mention a different philosophy…

Thanks, gentlemen.

Doc, there's something to what you say. In addition to the still-going-strong MacGyver fixation that northern Europeans seem to have, I've recently had lots of visitors looking for Filomena Moretti.
