In which the Meridian writes the obligatory " . . . is for good men to do nothing" post

Re this and this, not to mention my last post: There's plenty of blame to go around for this nightmare's perpetuation within the very party now calling for investigations, prosecutions, etc. I genuinely hope that the members of the majority party who knew of and tacitly (or perhaps not so tacitly) let this madness go on acknowledge their part in letting the government break our own and international law and, yes, that they in some way be punished as well.

I will also say, though: very loud kudos to those in the military at every level, from enlisted men and women to military lawyers and Pentagon officials, who loudly and in writing did what they could to resist these policies' implementation, as per the report from the Armed Services Committee report. It's not as though no one tried to stop this, which is good to know--and acknowledge as well.
