Compare/Contrast

Today in Pakistan, lawyers are marching in protest because the "president" of that nation has declared a state of emergency and has replaced a member of the Supreme Court with a judge loyal to him.

In the United States of America, the nominee to be Attorney General refuses to say whether waterboarding is a form of torture and thus illegal because to make such a declaration may put members of the current president's administration in legal jeopardy; even so, the Senate Judiciary Committee will most likely vote in favor of him and submit his name to the full Senate for approval.
