Birthday present

On this, the second anniversary of the blog you are reading at this very moment, I can think of no better way to commemorate it than by asking you to consider visiting a couple of blogs I've recently found and who, for better or for worse, have had the temerity to link to me. Some other stuff--amusing, inspiring, what have you--also appears under the fold.

As an aside: as I mentioned below, when I first started blogging, I had a difficult time finding really good, substantive blogs; recently, though, I have been finding more and more of them, thanks to the fact that the good blogs I've been reading themselves tend to read (and link to) good blogs. Funny how that works. Anyway, Thank You to the lot of you for enriching this experience for me.

*The lovely Belle Lettre (what else could she be with a name like that?) of Law and Letters writes in a loving/hating sort of way about law school and culture. Her recent posts here and here should be required reading for anyone the least bit curious about attending law school. Funny because true because funny. (Hat tip: A Frolic of Her Own (who, by the way, needs to blog much more regularly than she does))

*Auntymarianne of Tomato and Basil Sandwiches is that rarity, a do-gooder bureaucrat. She distributes humanitarian aid on behalf of the European Union and, on her blog, distributes wisdom and witticisms about life in Brussels and on culture generally. As to her manner, let's just say it's not exactly button-down. (Hat tip: R. Sherman of Musings from the Hinterland)

*The Plank today links to this excerpt from an interview in GQ that is truer than the speaker knows.

*And finally, Andrew Sullivan links to something that, I swear, you do not have to love baskeball in order to love. Maybe even get a bit misty-eyed over. (Note: the video was "unavailable" when I tried it just now. Keep trying.)

Happy (belated) Birthday! It is interesting and instructive to consider how we have met and deviated from expectations going in. I have been blogging about 9 months, so I need to start doing that navel-gazing act myself.

You are doing a remarkably fine job here. Keep it up...

Happy Blogday! Your blog brings me great enjoyment and I'm glad to find that two years in you are still finding the same fulfillment from the "blogosphere." I've found your blog to be informative, witty and an all-around pleasurable read that keeps me coming back for more.

Dear John B.,

Happy anniversary. I'm glad that we're back in contact so I got to be around for it :)

I will have to check out some of your recommendations when I have some spare time.

Take care,

Amy at LJ

Aww, happy birthday, and thank you, John B.! (I think of you whenever I listen to the Beach Boys--the highest compliment possible)

I know you and your wife will be the highlight of the Barrister's Ball of whichever school you two end up at(if you decide to party with drunk law students)

Thanks for the high profile plug, and for your wonderful blog! You're on my RSS feed, man!

Mucho Appreciato for blogrolling me. I just noticed. I have "moderation" on and I didn't realize I needed to accept comments each time. Sorry about that-- you were my first comment, so you your kind of special to me. I know it's off-topic, but how do you do that neat trick where you hide part of your post and there is a "more" button that the reader clicks on to see the rest of your post? I like that. I want it.
