In which the Meridian gazes at the piles of to-be-read papers on his desk

I have things to do for the next few days which are decidedly NOT blog-updating related. I look forward to returning "here" this weekend.

Isn't it odd how the realities of life that we took for granted BB (Before Blogging) now seem such an intrusion into our blog time? Whether it is herding piles of paper, personal duties at home, or death in the family as I have just been through, a few days off leaves us a bit disoriented. It always seems to take me another 3 or 4 days to get the old blog engine cranked and revved and productive again.

So now, it is up to us to adjust to AB life (After Blogging), and remember that the people we would least want to read it are the ones who will surely find it. So, be careful out there!

I can relate. The piles seem ever-present, though hardly presents...unless like a Freudian "gift" left with pride when potty training. Ugh. Worse yet, 'ever feel like every page is a confrontation? like every mark you put on the page will only lead to (best case) a fleeting curiosity or (more commonly) a shrug? Ever wonder if they read all our comments? It's easy to put these piles off, but then they only grow...and grow...and grow! Teaching often requires tact, but mine is so very strained when someone whines about their 5 page essay being such a burdensome load--sometimes I just say, "Multiply that times 70 and get back to me."

Returning to my own grading now...
